Our latest ‘What’s On’ can be found here – no need to book for anything, just come along at the start time.   Also in addition here’s advance notice of two new FREE Silver Deal Active coach-led activities for those aged 60+ being run every week at the Centre by Glasgow Life, starting the last week in April.   

Active Arts Class – a class offering you the opportunity to take part in various art projects such as Glass Painting, Candle Making, Jewellery Making, Card Making, Canvas Painting plus lots more.  Starts Tuesday 24 April: 12-1pm

Easy Exercise Class – a class helping to improve mobility, co-ordination, strength, balance & self-confidence.  The music used throughout the class also allows you to have a sing along and have some fun whilst exercising at the same time.  Starts Thursday 26 April: 10-11am.

We need your input to help us plan for the future of the Centre.   You can fill in our online survey for adults here, or one for children aged 15 and under here It will only take a few minutes to complete and we would really appreciate your feedback.

As an incentive there will be a prize draw with five £10 vouchers for Café Momentum, and also free tea, coffee or a soft drink for the first 150 completed surveys returned.  Paper versions of the survey are available in the Centre if you prefer.

SPRING FLING 1st April

Don’t forget our latest Big Green Sunday tomorrow – it’s free! Just come along to the Centre anytime from 1 to 4pm – there will be something for folk of all ages to enjoy and everybody is welcome.  See details here.  Activities include:

  • Stitch Up session including knitting & bunting making for the community garden
  • Poster-writing and storytelling workshops
  • Gardening and planting in the Heart of Scotstoun Community Garden
  • Pedal powered smoothies
  • Free refreshments

 

Our new café has just opened during the day and from Tuesday 10 April will be up and running weekdays from 8.30am until last orders at 7.30pm.  We’ll be sending out more details soon, but do come along the Centre and try it out – in the last few days it’s been great to see folk outside at tables enjoying the Scotstoun sunshine!

‘Hands of Scotstoun’Our sewing, knitting and crafts get-together on the first Wednesday of the month.  Everybody welcome, more information here.

I Shin Den Shin Karate - A new juniors karate club is now up and running on Wednesdays from 7-8pm.  Children aged 8-16 are welcome and the first session is always free.  No special clothing is needed – just wear something comfortable and loose.  More information here.

Advance notice and details about the next Big Green Sunday can be found here.  This will now be held on 4th March (not 5th February). The theme of this great free community event will be Sowing and Growing - there will something for all the family to enjoy, so do come along and join in.

We’re now fully open again and in our first week back have even more activities starting up to help you get fit and active in 2012.  Just come along, no booking is required.  Don’t forget all our previous classes and clubs are still running too,  see everything that’s on here.   Our new weekly activities are highlighted below.

Our first special event of the year is a ‘Burns community celebration’  of course on Wednesday 25th January!  More details about this here.  Tickets priced £2.50 will go on sale at the Centre weekdays from 2 till 8pm starting Tuesday 17th January (NB tickets only available to buy at the Centre – no reservations by phone or email).

We are now closed for the holidays, and wish everybody a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.  All our regular activities will start up again during the week commencing 9th January.

Big Green Sunday – A Greener XmasFREE EVENT
Sunday 4 December 1 to 4pm

A family-friendly, planet-friendly activity day with plenty on offer including Xmas decoration making, a health issues discussion session, Stitch up craft session, skill sharing, kiddies’ activities, and carol singing!  There will be free soup and refreshments available too. Digital Photography Club
Tuesdays 7-9pm *Starting 6 December*
Do you have a digital camera and want to learn more about using it?  Come along and join in the new Digital Photography Club at Heart of Scotstoun. There will be lots of great photography projects to get involved in, the opportunity to learn tricks of the trade, and tips for uploading, saving and editing your digital photographs.
